White fillings are a natural-looking alternative to aesthetically poor dark amalgam fillings. Made up of a plastic and glass mixture, white fillings are tooth-coloured and can be used to fill dental cavities and restore the appearance of teeth.

Procedure:

The dental professional will prepare the filling site by removing any unwanted deposits, decay or existing filling material. The treatment site is cleaned, dried and the tooth surface is etched and coated with a gel and bonding solution so that the filling material sticks to the tooth. The white filling material is prepared and placed into the tooth cavity, or area to be filled, and then moulded to match the tooth contours. A curing light is used to set the filling material in order to harden the filling. The filling is then trimmed and polished so that it looks natural and feels smooth. This procedure ranges from 30-45minutes depending on the size of the filling and the surface of the tooth.

Post-treatment:

After a composite filling, you can eat and drink as normal as the filling material is set immediately by the curing light. However, you may have some areas of the mouth which are still numb from the anaesthetic, so we recommend soft food and cool drinks to avoid biting or burning your mouth.

Cosmetic White Fillings

No drilling. No injections. No pain. Composite bonding involves using a type of filling material to improve the size or shape of your teeth. Composite bonding is popular with clients and dentists, as is a fast and non-evasive way to improve the appearance of teeth. Composite bonding involves minimal destruction of the original natural tooth.

Composite bonding is effective in cases where you:

- have gaps between teeth

- have visible marks or discolouration on the surface of your teeth

- would like to alter the shape of your teeth

- would like to lengthen your teeth

- have chipped teeth

Depending on how many teeth are being bonded, treatment can be completed in one appointment. Treatment time is around 30-40 minutes per tooth. Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding is a much cheaper alternative. Maintenance: 2-5 years

Price: from £140 per tooth

Veneers are thin layers of porcelain or composite which fit on to the front of a tooth. Veneers can be used to change the shade, shape, position or size of teeth and also to fix gaps between teeth. For traditional porcelain veneers, some preparation is required of the underlying tooth to create space to place the veneer. If the veneer is being used to increase the size of the tooth or bring a tooth forward, no preparation may be required. A dental technician crafts the veneer through precision models created from impressions of your teeth.

Price: from £590 per veneer

Porcelain Veneers

A crown is a restoration that fits over the remaining part of your tooth making it resilient and giving it the look of a real tooth. Teeth that need crowns are usually broken down by decay and in a poor state of repair. Crowns may also be used aesthetically to cover a discoloured filling or following root canal treatment to protect what is left of the tooth.

Following your consultation, our treatment advisor will explain what options are available taking into account your clinical needs and budget.

Price: from £490

Crowns

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth and improve your smile.  They are described and priced as 'units.' A unit is the number of missing teeth, plus the number of teeth used to support the bridge. The remaining teeth on one or either side of the gap may need treatments to strengthen them in order to hold the bridge in place. More than one adjacent tooth may need treatment to support the bridge effectively.

Not all teeth need preparing for a bridge. An adhesive bridge uses a metal 'wing' attached to the artificial tooth to adhere to the supporting tooth. The dentist will decide which method is the most clinically appropriate at your consultation.

Whitening FAQ's

How white will my teeth get?

Enlighten Whitening can whiten up to 16 shades. Results vary, but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically.
Natural teeth rarely look too white. Sometimes very white crowns can look wrong because they are made of porcelain.

Will my crowns, veneers or fillings change colour?

No, sometimes you may need to change some of these after whitening.

Is it safe? Is there any pain?

It is completely safe. The materials used in Enlighten Whitening have been used in dentistry for over 100 years. You may get some sensitivity, however, your dentist will give you easy to use desensitising swabs to take home, which will work immediately. You will also receive a tube of Tooth Serum toothpaste to brush with while you wait for your trays. This also helps with sensitivity.

Can I spread the cost of treatment?

Yes, we offer 0% finance over 12 months. Enlighten is currently priced at £395.

How long does it take?

Two weeks after your dentist delivers your Enlighten Whitening trays. These are thin and comfortable and must be worn in bed for 14 nights. Then on the 15th day you need to see your dentist for the second treatment, which takes only 40 minutes.

How long does it last?

Results can last indefinitely with some very simple maintenance. Wearing the trays for 1 night every other month.
